Introduction to differential equations and dynamical systems

This book includes a variety of differential equations applicable to engineering and the physical sciences, along with some applications to population dynamics. Extended applications are in Chapters 2, 4, 6, and 10. The needs and tastes of the students and the instructor will determine the selection of applications used in the course; many of these applications require computer or calculators, usually accompanied also by some paper and pencil work.
Exercises. Basic material is treated repeatedly, but with variations, in the exercises, and the more difficult exercises are broken down into carefully graduated steps. Starred exercises are somewhat more demanding and usually less fundamental to an introductory course; these exercises may also be the basis for group projects.
