Many of papers refers to study of application for FACTS, especially for using
reactive compensators for Vietnam’s 500kV power system in order to increase the static voltage stability margin and transient stability enhancement have considered, however the optimal evaluation and selection of suitable Var source STATCOM or SVC as well as determination of the size of the Var source in steady state and transient analysis has not yet been proposed. The purpose of this paper is to solve the above problems in order to suggest a solution of optimal shunt compenstator for Vietnam’s 500kV power system.
