Investigation the stiffness characteristic of self-aligning hydrodynamic bearing on external cylindrical grinding machine based on numerical simulation

Medium-sized cylindrical grinding machines are used for semi-fine machining and fine machining of cylindrical parts wwith suitable harness. Stability of the center spindle grinding machine during machining has a decisive influence on the surface quality of the workpiece. One of the main indicators of the stability of the spindle is it stiffness in the machining process. The spindle of grinding machine is supported by hydronamic bearing with three self-aligning pads, so its stiffness will depend mainly on the film stiffness and self-aligning structure of the pads as well as of the degree strengthens the spindle itself.
