Two to eight times a year (depending on whether they design both men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, as well as couture, resort and cruise collections), they plumb their psyches to create clothes that not only reveal the wild contours of their own inner lives but also allow us to recognize those emotions and fantasies as our own — to realize that our view of the world is perhaps not as singular as we thought.
