ANALYSIS OF MULTIPHYSICS INTERACTING INFLUENCES IN ANISOTROPIC MATERIALS BY FEM

In the present thesis work an attempt is made to develop a four noded isoparamatric flat plate element with five mechanical degrees of freedom ( 3 translational, 2 rotational) per node based on first order shear deformation theory to compute the elemental stiffness ( elastic or electro-mechanical coupling) and mass matrix of composite plate. Electrical voltage is assumed as an additional DOF which is to be applied per element. The numerical modeling of a plate structure containing bonded piezoelectric material. Hamilton’s principle is employed to derive the finite element equations using the mechanical energy of the structure and the electrical energy of the piezoelectric material.
