HYBRID PI PLUS FUZZY LOGIC DAMP ING CONTROLLER TO IMPROVE THE DYNAMIC STAB ILITY OF DFIG-BASED WIND TURB INE GENERATORS

In this paper, the simulation results of using a hybrid PI plus fuzzy logic (FL) damping controller for DC-link voltage regulator of doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) driven by an equivalent wind turbine (WT) are given to improve the dynamic stability of the power systems. The power grid is modeled by an equivalent synchronous generator (SG)-based one machine infinite bus (OMIB) system. A time-domain scheme based on a nonlinear system model subject to a three-phase short-circuit fault at the infinite bus is utilized to examine the effectiveness of the proposed control schemes. It can be concluded from the comparative simulation results that the proposed hybrid PI plus FL damping controller is shown to be superior for improving the stability of the studied system subject to a severe disturbance.
